नारद मोह की कथा

इन्द्र द्वारा नारद मुनि की तपस्या में विघ्न का प्रयास
नारद मुनि के इस प्रकार तप करने की सूचना जब देवराज इन्द्र को मिली तो वे सोचने लगे की हो न हो नारद मुनि इन्द्र पद लेने के उद्देश्य से ही इतनी कठिन तपस्या कर रहे हैं।

ऐसा सोचकर उन्होंने नारद मुनि की तपस्या में विघ्न डालने के उद्देश्य से कामदेव को बुलाया और उनको आज्ञा दी की किसी भी प्रकार नारद मुनि की तपस्या भंग करो।

क्या है खाटू श्याम जी के बाणों का रहस्य ?

कामदेव तुरंत अपने सारे अस्त्र शस्त्रों के साथ उस स्थान पर पहुँचे जहाँ नारद मुनि समाधी में लीन थे और उन्होंने नारद मुनि की तपस्या भंग करने का सब प्रकार से यत्न किया पर नारद मुनि पर उसका कोई प्रभाव नहीं पड़ा।

अंत में निराश होकर कामदेव वापस लौट गए।

सूतजी कहते हैं कि जो नारद मुनि पर कामदेव का कोई प्रभाव नहीं पड़ा उसका कारण ये था की उसी स्थान पर एक समय भगवान शिव ने तपस्या की थी और कामदेव को अपने तीसरे नेत्र से भस्म कर दिया था।

नारद मुनि के मन में काम विजय का अहंकार उपजना
कुछ समय बीतने पर जब नारद मुनि की साधना पूर्ण हुई तब उनके मन में कामदेव पर विजय पाने का गर्व हो गया और वे इस वृतांत को भगवान शिव को सुनाने कैलाश पहुँचे और कामदेव पर विजय पाने का सारा वृतांत भगवान शंकर को सुनाया।

ये सुनकर भक्तवत्सल भगवान शिव जो नारद के कामदेव पर विजय का कारण जानते थे कहा –

“हे नारद, तुम मुझे अत्यंत प्रिय हो इसलिए तुम्हें ये शिक्षा दे रहा हूँ कि इस घटना के विषय में किसी और के पास चर्चा मत करना और इसे गुप्त रखना।”

पर मन में अहंकार हो जाने के कारण नारद मुनि ने भगवान शिव के परामर्श को नहीं माना और ब्रह्मलोक पहुँचे, वहां पहुँचकर उन्होंने ब्रह्मा जी की स्तुति करके उनसे भी इस घटना की चर्चा की।

नारद मुनि ने सोचा की उनके द्वारा काम विजय का समाचार सुनकर पिता ब्रह्मा उनकी प्रशंसा करेंगे पर ब्रह्मा जी ने भी भगवान शिव के समान ही नारद से इस विषय को गुप्त रखने को कहा।

निराश होकर नारद मुनि विष्णुलोक पहुँचे, वहाँ नारद मुनि को आए देखकर अंतर्यामी भगवान विष्णु ने नारद मुनि का बहुत प्रकार से स्वागत किया और उन्हें उचित आसन देकर उनके आगमन का कारण पुछा।

तब नारद मुनि ने भगवान विष्णु को अपने काम विजय का सारा वृतांत कह सुनाया। नारद मुनि के अहंकार युक्त वचन सुनकर विष्णु भगवान ने नारद मुनि की बहुत प्रशंसा की।

तब नारद मुनि भगवान विष्णु को प्रणाम करके गर्वित भाव से वहाँ से चल दिए।

भगवान विष्णु द्वारा माया सृष्टि की रचना
भगवान विष्णु अपने भक्तों की हर प्रकार से रक्षा करते हैं, अहंकार पतन के द्वार खोल देता है इसलिए अपने परम भक्त नारद के कल्याण के उद्देश्य से भगवान विष्णु ने एक माया रची।

उन्होंने नारद मुनि के मार्ग में एक विशाल नगरी की रचना की जो हर प्रकार से सुन्दर, सुशोभित और रमणीक था।

क्यों मनाई जाती है होलिका दहन क्या है इसके पीछे की कथा

जब नारद मुनि वहाँ पहुँचे तो देखा की वहाँ के राजा ने अपनी पुत्री के विवाह के लिए स्वयंवर का आयोजन किया है जिसमें बहुत से राजा और राजकुमार पहुँचे हैं।

तब नारद मुनि उस राजा के महल में पहुँचे, नारद मुनि को देखकर राजा ने उनको सिंघासन पर बिठाया और उनकी हर प्रकार से सेवा सत्कार की।

इसके बाद राजा ने अपनी पुत्री को बुलाया और नारद मुनि से कहा की हे मुनि विशारद, आप तो ज्योतिष के महाज्ञानी हैं मैंने अपनी पुत्री के विवाह के लिए स्वयंवर का आयोजन किया है कृपया इसका भाग्य बताइये, इसे कैसा वर मिलेगा आदि आदि।

खाटू श्याम मेला फाल्गुन माह में क्यों लगता है ?

जब नारद मुनि ने उस परम सुंदरी राजकुमारी का भाग्य देखा तो चकित हो गए। सब प्रकार के सुन्दर लक्षणों से संपन्न उस राजकन्या को देखकर नारद मुनि ने कहा –

“हे राजन, आपकी कन्या समस्त शुभ लक्षणों से युक्त, परम सौभाग्यशालिनी और साक्षात लक्ष्मी के समान ही है। जो भी इस कन्या से विवाह करेगा वो चक्रवर्ती सम्राट बनेगा। देवता और असुर भी उसे पराजित नहीं कर पाएंगे।”

ऐसा कहकर नारद मुनि राजा से विदा लेकर वहाँ से चल दिए और मन ही मन उस कन्या से स्वयं विवाह करने की इक्षा करने लगे।

इस प्रकार तत्वज्ञानी नारद मोह माया के चुम्बकीय आकर्षण में फंस गए।

भगवान विष्णु द्वारा नारद मुनि को वानर रूप देना
समस्त नारीयों को सौन्दर्य सर्वथा प्रिय होता है और इस संसार में भगवान विष्णु से सुन्दर कौन है ऐसा सोचकर नारद मुनि विष्णुलोक पहुँचे।

उनको आया देखकर भगवान विष्णु अपनी ही माया से मोहित नारद मुनि से उनके आने का कारण पुछा। तब नारद मुनि ने भगवान विष्णु से सारा वृत्तांत सुनाया और कहा –

“हे नाथ, मुझे अपने ही समान सुन्दर रूप दें जिससे वह कन्या स्वयंवर में मेरा ही वरण करे।”

वीर बर्बरीक कैसे बने हारे के सहारे बाबा श्याम

ये सुनकर भगवान मंद मंद मुस्काने लगे और कहा – “हे मुनिराज, जिसमें भी तुम्हारा भला हो मैं वही काम करूँगा तुम उस स्थान को जाओ।”

ऐसा कहकर भगवान विष्णु ने नारद मुनि के सब अंग प्रत्यंग अपने ही समान कर दिया पर मुख वानर का दे दिया।

स्वयंवर में नारद मुनि का अपमान और उनका रुष्ट होना
अपने अंगों को भगवान के समान हुआ देखकर नारद मुनि अत्यंत प्रसन्न हुए और स्वयंवर में पहुँच कर जहाँ राजागण बैठे हुए थे वहीँ जाकर एक आसन पर विराजमान हो गए

और मन में सोचने लगे की मैंने तो भगवान विष्णु के समान रूप धारण किया हुआ है अतः वह राजकुमारी अवश्य ही मेरा वरण करेगी पर नारद मुनि इस बात से अनभिज्ञ थे कि उनका मुँह कितना कुरूप है।

क्या है रावण के दस सिर होने का रहस्य

वहाँ नारद मुनि की रक्षा के लिए विष्णु भगवान ने अपने दो पार्षद भेजे थे जो ब्राह्मण का रूप धरकर नारद मुनि के पास ही बैठ गए।

वे दोनों पार्षद मुनि को उनके वास्तविक स्वरुप का भेद बताने के लिए आपस में बातचीत करते हुए नारद मुनि की हंसी उड़ाने लगे पर कामविह्वल नारद मुनि ने उनकी बातों पर ध्यान नहीं दिया और राजकुमारी के आने की प्रतीक्षा करने लगे।

थोड़ी देर बाद राजकुमारी स्त्रियों से घिरी हुई वरमाला लेकर उस मंडप में आई और अपने इक्षानुसार वर को ढूंढते हुए उस सभा में भ्रमण करने लगी।

नारद मुनि के वानर रुपी मुख को देखकर वह राजकन्या कुपित हो गई और आगे बढ़ गई। पुरे सभा में अपने मन के अनुसार वर को न पाकर वह कन्या दुखी हो गई।

इतने में उस सभा में भगवान विष्णु प्रकट हुए, विष्णु भगवान को देखकर वह राजकन्या अत्यंत प्रसन्न हुई और वरमाला उनके गले में डाल दिया।

क्यों श्री हनुमान जी ने चीरा अपना सीना ?

विष्णु भगवान उस कन्या को साथ लेकर तुरंत वहाँ से अंतर्ध्यान हो गए और अपने लोक चले गए।

ये देखकर नारद मुनि के मन में बहुत क्षोभ हुआ। तब भगवान के भेजे हुए ब्राह्मण रूपधारी पार्षदों ने नारद मुनि को आईने में अपना मुँह देखने को कहा।

अपना वास्तविक स्वरुप देखकर नारद मुनि के क्रोध की सीमा न रही और उन्होंने उन दोनों पार्षदों को राक्षस हो जाने का श्राप दे दिया और स्वयं क्रोध की अग्नि में जलते हुए विष्णुलोक पहुँचे।

वह कन्या वास्तव में स्वयं महालक्ष्मी ही थीं पर काम रुपी मेघ ने उनके ज्ञान रुपी सूर्य को ढक दिया था जिसके कारण नारद मोह माया के इस भेद को समझ नहीं पाए और क्रोधवश भगवान विष्णु को दुर्वचन सुनाने लगे और श्राप देते हुए कहा –

“हे विष्णु, आपने मेरे साथ छल किया है, मुझे वानर का रूप दे दिया और स्वयं उस कन्या का वरण कर लिया।

आपके कारण जिस प्रकार मैं स्त्री के लिए व्याकुल हुआ हूँ उसी प्रकार आप भी मनुष्य रूप में धरती पर जन्म लेंगे और स्त्री वियोग का दुःख प्राप्त करेंगे।”

माया से विरत होने पर नारद मुनि का पश्चाताप
अज्ञान से मोहित हुए नारद मुनि ने जब भगवान विष्णु को श्राप दे दिया तब मायापति ने नारद मुनि को शांत किया और अपनी माया को खींच लिया।

माया के हटते ही नारद मुनि को पहले के समान ही ज्ञान हो गया और उन्हें अपनी करनी पर अत्यंत पश्चाताप होने लगा और बार बार अपनी निंदा करते हुए भगवान के चरणों में गिर पड़े और कहने लगे –

 

हनुमान जी को बजरंग बली क्यों कहते है

 

“हे नारायण, कामवश मोहित होकर मैंने ये क्या कर दिया, मैंने आपको श्राप भी दे दिया। हे लक्ष्मीपति, मेरे वचनों को मिथ्या कर दीजिये।”

तब भगवान बोले – “हे मुनिश्रेष्ठ, ये सब जो हुआ वह भगवान शिव की ही माया है, जो तुमने मद में आकर उनकी बात नहीं मानी उसी के कारण ये सब हुआ।

पर तुम्हारे श्राप में भी जगत का कल्याण छिपा हुआ है। तुम्हारे श्राप के कारण ही आज मेरे रामावतार का बीजारोपण हो गया।”

नारद मुनि के श्राप के कारण ही भगवान विष्णु के दोनों पार्षद रावण – कुम्भकरण के रूप में पृथ्वी पर राक्षस रूप में जन्म लिया और स्वयं भगवान विष्णु ने राम अवतार लेकर उनको मुक्ति दिलाई।

राम अवतार में भगवान विष्णु को नारद मुनि के श्राप के कारण स्त्री वियोग का दुःख भी झेलना पड़ा।

 

Indra's attempt to disturb Narad Muni's penance

When Devraj Indra got the information about Narad Muni's penance in this way, he started thinking that whether or not Narad Muni is doing such a difficult penance for the purpose of taking the post of Indra.

Thinking like this, he called Kamdev for the purpose of disrupting Narad Muni's penance and ordered him to disturb Narad Muni's penance in any way.

Kya Hai Khatu shyam Ji Ke Teen Bano Ka Rahasya

Kamdev immediately reached the place where Narad Muni was engrossed in samadhi with all his weapons and he tried in every way to break Narad Muni's penance but it had no effect on Narad Muni.

In the end, Kamadeva returned back disappointed.

Sutji says that the reason why Narad Muni was not affected by Kamadeva was that at the same place at one time Lord Shiva had done penance and burnt Kamadeva with his third eye.

Ego of work victory in the mind of Narad Muni

After some time, when Narad Muni's meditation was completed, he became proud of having won over Kamdev and he reached Kailash to narrate this story to Lord Shiva and narrated the whole story of victory over Kamdev to Lord Shankar.

Hearing this Bhaktavatsala Lord Shiva who knew the reason of Narad's victory over Kamadeva said -

"O Narad, you are very dear to me, so I am teaching you not to discuss this incident with anyone else and keep it a secret."

But due to arrogance in his mind, Narad Muni did not listen to Lord Shiva's advice and reached Brahmalok, after reaching there he praised Brahma and discussed this incident with him.

Narad Muni thought that father Brahma would praise him after hearing the news of his work victory, but Brahma ji, like Lord Shiva, asked Narad to keep this matter a secret.

Frustrated Narad Muni reached Vishnulok, seeing Narad Muni there Lord Vishnu welcomed Narad Muni in many ways 

And by giving him a proper seat, asked the reason for his arrival.

Then Narad Muni told Lord Vishnu the whole story of his victory. Hearing the arrogant words of Narad Muni, Lord Vishnu praised Narad Muni a lot.

Then Narad Muni bowed down to Lord Vishnu and proudly left from there.

Maya created by Lord Vishnu

Lord Vishnu protects his devotees in every way, ego opens the door to downfall, so Lord Vishnu created an illusion for the welfare of his supreme devotee Narada.

He created a huge city in the path of Narad Muni which was beautiful, graceful and delightful in every way.

When Narad Muni reached there, he saw that the king there had organized a Swayamvara for his daughter's marriage, in which many kings and princes had arrived.

Then Narad Muni reached the king's palace, seeing Narad Muni, the king made him sit on the throne and served him in every way.

After this the king called his daughter and said to Narad Muni that O Muni Visharad, you are a great astrologer, I have organized Swayamvara for my daughter's marriage, please tell her fate, what kind of groom she will get, etc.

When Narada Muni saw the fate of that supremely beautiful princess, he was astonished. Narad Muni, seeing that princess endowed with all kinds of beautiful features, said –

“O King, your daughter is full of all auspicious characteristics, extremely fortunate and is like Lakshmi in person. Whoever marries this girl will become Chakravarti Samrat. Even gods and demons will not be able to defeat him.

Having said this, Narad Muni left the place after taking leave of the king and started wishing to marry that girl himself.

In this way philosopher Narad got trapped in the magnetic attraction of illusion and illusion.

Lord Vishnu transforms Narad Muni into a monkey

Beauty is always loved by all women and Narad Muni reached Vishnulok thinking who is more beautiful than Lord Vishnu in this world.

Seeing him coming, Lord Vishnu asked Narad Muni the reason for his arrival, bewitched by his own illusion. Then Narad Muni narrated the whole story to Lord Vishnu and said –

“O Nath, give me a beautiful form like your own so that the girl can marry me only in Swayamvara.”

Hearing this, God started smiling slowly and said - "O Muniraj, I will do whatever is good for you, you go to that place."

By saying this, Lord Vishnu made all the organs of Narad Muni equal to his own, but gave the face of a monkey.

Narad Muni was very pleased to see his limbs like God and after reaching Swayamvara, went to the place where the kings were sitting and sat on a seat.

And started thinking in mind that I have taken the form of Lord Vishnu, so that princess will definitely marry me, but Narad Muni was unaware of how ugly her face was.

There Lord Vishnu had sent two of his councilors to protect Narad Muni, who assumed the form of a Brahmin and sat beside Narad Muni.

Both of them started making fun of Narad Muni while conversing with each other to tell the councilor Muni the difference between his real nature.

But Kamvihwal Narad Muni did not pay attention to his words and started waiting for the princess to come.

After some time, the princess came to that mandap with a garland surrounded by women and started roaming in that assembly in search of the groom according to her wish.

Seeing the monkey-like face of Narad Muni, the princess became enraged and went ahead. The girl became sad after not getting the groom according to her wish in the whole assembly.

Meanwhile, Lord Vishnu appeared in that gathering, the princess was very happy to see Lord Vishnu and put the garland around his neck.

Lord Vishnu took that girl along with him and immediately disappeared from there and went to his world.

Seeing this, Narad Muni's mind was very angry. Then the councilors in the form of Brahmins sent by God asked Narad Muni to see his face in the mirror.

Narad Muni's anger knew no bounds after seeing his real form and he cursed both those councilors to become demons and himself reached Vishnulok burning in the fire of anger.

That girl was actually Mahalakshmi herself, but the cloud in the form of work had covered the sun in the form of her knowledge, due to which Narad could not understand this difference between illusion and illusion and in anger started reciting bad words to Lord Vishnu and cursing him saying –

“O Vishnu, you have played a trick on me, giving me the form of a monkey and marrying that girl yourself.

Because of you, the way I am distraught for a woman, in the same way you will also be born on earth in human form and will get the sorrow of separation from women.

Repentance of Narad Muni on breaking away from Maya
When Narad Muni, who was fascinated by ignorance, cursed Lord Vishnu, Mayapati pacified Narad Muni and pulled his illusion.

As soon as Maya was removed, Narad Muni got the same knowledge as before and he felt remorse for his actions and while condemning himself again and again fell at the feet of God and said –

“O Narayan, what have I done by being deluded by lust, I have also cursed you. O Lakshmipati, make my words false.

Then God said – “O best of sages, all this happened because of Lord Shiva's illusion, because of which you did not listen to him in your infatuation.

But the welfare of the world is also hidden in your curse. Because of your curse, the seed of my Ramavatar was sown today.

Due to the curse of Narad Muni, both the councilors of Lord Vishnu, Ravana –

He was born as a demon on earth as Kumbhkaran and Lord Vishnu himself got him liberated by taking the form of Rama.

Lord Vishnu in Ram avatar also had to suffer the sorrow of separation from women due to the curse of Narad Muni.
