सत्यनारायण की व्रत कथा - तृतीय अध्याय

सूत जी आगे की कहानी सुनाते हुए कहते हैं कि सालों पहले उल्कामुख नामक एक राजा था। वह बुद्धिमान होने के साथ-साथ सत्यवादी और शांत स्वभाव का व्यक्ति था। वो रोजाना मंदिरों में जाकर गरीबों को धन दान करके उनके दुखों को दूर करता था। राजा उल्कामुख की पत्नी कमल के फूल के समान थी। उन्हें पवित्र स्त्री माना जाता था।

एक बार राजा उल्कामुख और उसकी पत्नी ने भद्रशीला नदी के किनारे श्री सत्यनारायण भगवान की पूजा की। तभी वहां साधु नाम का एक वैश्य पहुंचा। उस वैश्य के पास व्यवसाय करने के लिए काफी धन था। उसने जब राजा और उसकी पत्नी को व्रत करते देखा, तो वह वहीं रुक गया। फिर उनसे विनम्रतापूर्वक पूछा, “हे महराज! आप कौन-सा व्रत कर रहे हैं।”

राजा ने जवाब दिया, “मैं अपने परिजनों के साथ पुत्र की प्राप्ति के लिए श्री सत्यनारायण भगवान की पूजा कर रहा हूं। इस पर साधु ने पूछा, “क्या आप मुझे भी व्रत करने की विधि बताएंगे। मुझे भी संतान प्राप्ति की इच्छा है।” साधु की बात सुनकर राजा ने उसे सत्यनारायण भगवान के पूजा की सारी विधि बताई। इसके बाद साधु अपने घर को ओर निकल पड़ा।

घर पहुंचकर साधु ने अपनी पत्नी लीलावती को श्री सत्यनारायण व्रत के बारे में बताया और कहा, “मुझे जब संतान की प्राप्ति होगी, तो मैं इस व्रत को करूंगा।” कुछ दिन बात सत्यनारायण भगवान की कृपा साधु की पत्नी लीलावती पर बरसी और वह गर्भवती हो गई। आगे चलकर उसने एक पुत्री को जन्म दिया। लीलावती की पुत्री कब बड़ी हो गई, यह पता ही नहीं चला। उसके माता-पिता ने उसका नाम कलावती रखा था।

कुछ दिन बीतने के बाद कलावती की माता ने साधु को उसका वचन याद दिलाया, जिसमें उसने संतान प्राप्ति के बाद श्री सत्यनारायण भगवान की पूजा करने की बात कही थी। लीलावती ने कहा, “हे स्वामी! अब आपको अपने वचन को पूरा करने का समय आ गया है।”
इसपर साधु ने कहा, “हे प्राण प्रिय! मुझे अपना वचन अच्छी तरह से याद है। उस वचन को मैं अपनी पुत्री के विवाह के अवसर पर पूरे विधि विधान के साथ करूंगा।” पत्नी को पूजा का आश्वासन देकर अगले दिन साधु नगर की ओर चल पड़ा।

कुछ समय बाद जब कलावती शादी योग्य हो गई, तो साधु ने एक दूत को बुलाया और उसे अपनी पुत्री कलावती के लिए एक योग्य वर ढूंढने का आदेश दिया। साधु का आदेश पाकर दूत कंचन नगर की ओर गया और वहां से एक योग्य वर लेकर आया। उस लड़के को देखकर साधु ने अपनी पुत्री का विवाह उससे कराने का फैसला किया। उसने तुरंत अपने प्रियजनों को आमंत्रित किया और अपनी पुत्री का विवाह उस योग्य लड़के से कर दिया।

शादी के दौरान भी साधु ने श्री सत्यनारायण भगवान की पूजा नहीं की। साधु का यह रवैया देखकर श्री सत्यनारायण भगवान गुस्से में आ गए और उन्होंने साधु को अभिशाप दिया कि उसके जीवन से सब सुख-समृद्धि दूर हो जाएगी।

इधर, अपने कार्यों में व्यस्त साधु अपने दामाद के साथ चंद्रकेतु राजा के नगर में व्यापार करने पहुंचा। तभी एक दिन अचानक एक चोर चंद्रकेतु राजा का धन चुराकर भागते-भागते उसी साधु की दुकान पर जा पहुंचा। यहां सिपाहियों को अपने पीछे आते देख चोर ने चुराया हुआ धन साधु की दुकान में छिपा दिया।

राजा के सिपाही जब वहां पहुंचे, तो उन्हें राजा का धन साधु और उसके जमाई के पास दिखा। उन्होंने तुरंत दोनों को बंदी बनाया और उन्हें राजा के पास ले गए। सिपाहियों ने राजा से कहा, “महराज हमने दोनों चोरों को सामान के साथ पकड़ लिया है। आप बस आदेश दें कि इन दोनों को क्या सजा देनी है।”

राजा ने सिपाहियों को आदेश दिया कि बिना देर किए दोनों को इसी वक्त कारावास में डाल दिया जाए। साथ ही उनके सारे धन को जब्त कर लिया जाए। दूसरी तरफ साधु की पत्नी भी दुखी थी। उसके घर में जो कुछ भी सामान था, उसे चोर ले गए थे।

एक दिन साधु की बेटी कलावती भूख-प्यास से तड़पती हुई भोजन की तलाश में एक ब्राह्मण के घर पहुंची। वहां उसने श्री सत्यनारायण का व्रत होते हुआ देखा। फिर उसने भी उस ब्राह्मण से सत्यनारायण भगवान की कथा सुनी। इसके बाद प्रसाद ग्रहण करके अपने घर चली आई। घर पहुंचते ही कलावती की मां ने उससे पूछा, “बेटी तुम अब तक कहां थी और तुम्हारे मन में क्या उथल-पुथल हो रही है।”

क्या है रावण के दस सिर होने का रहस्य

इस पर कलावती ने अपनी मां से कहा, “हे माता! मैं अभी-अभी एक ब्राह्मण के घर से आ रही हूं। वहां मैंने श्री सत्यनारायण भगवान की कथा सुनी।” अपनी पुत्री की बातों को सुनने के बाद लीलावती ने भी सत्यनारायण भगवान की पूजा की तैयारी शुरू कर दी। फिर उसने अपने परिजनों को बुलाया और पूरे विधि विधान के साथ सत्यनारायण भगवान की पूजा की। साथ ही लीलावती ने भगवान से अपने पापों के लिए माफी मांगी और अपने पति और जमाई को रिहा करने की प्रार्थना भी की।

लीलावती के इस कार्य से श्री सत्यनारायण भगवान प्रसन्न हुए। उन्होंने राजा चंद्रकेतु को सपने में दर्शन दिए और कहा, “हे राजन! तुमने जिसे बंदी बनाकर रखा है, उसे तुरंत रिहा कर दो और उसकी धन संपत्ति भी लौटा दो। अगर तुमने ऐसा नहीं किया, तो तुम्हें भी मैं धन और संतान के सुख से वंचित कर दूंगा।”

अगली सुबह राजा ने दरबार में अपने सपने के बारे में बताया और सिपाहियों को दोनों कैदियों को सभा में लाने के लिए कहा। इसके बाद सिपाही, साधु और उसके जमाई को लेकर दरबार पहुंचे। यहां दोनों ने राजा को प्रणाम किया। इसके बाद राजा ने उनसे कहा, “हमें गलतफहमी हो गई थी। अब वो दूर हो गई है, इसलिए हम आप लोगों को पूरे सम्मान और धन-दौलत के साथ छोड़ रहे हैं।”

इतना कहकर सूत जी ने श्री सत्यनारायण कथा का तीसरा अध्याय पूरा किया।

Sut ji while narrating further story says that years ago there was a king named Ulkamukh. He was intelligent as well as truthful and calm. Once King Ulkamukha and his wife worshiped Lord Satyanarayan on the banks of Bhadrashila river. Only then a Vaishya named Sadhu reached there. That Vaishya had enough money to do business. When he saw the king and his wife fasting, he stopped there. Then humbly asked him, “O Maharaj! Which fast are you observing?

The king replied, “I along with my family members are worshiping Lord Satyanarayana to get a son. On this the monk asked, “Will you tell me the method of fasting too. I also wish to have a child. After listening to the monk, the king told him all the methods of worshiping Lord Satyanarayan. After this the monk left for his home.

On reaching home, the sadhu told his wife Lilavati about the Shri Satyanarayan Vrat and said, "When I will be blessed with a child, I will observe this Vrat." After a few days, the grace of Lord Satyanarayana showered on Lilavati, the sage's wife, and she became pregnant. Later she gave birth to a daughter. It is not known when Lilavati's daughter grew up. Her parents named her Kalavati.

After a few days, Kalavati's mother reminded the monk of her promise, in which she had said to worship Lord Satyanarayan after getting a child. Lilavati said, “O Lord! Now the time has come for you to fulfill your promise.
On this the monk said, “O dear life! I remember my promise very well. I will fulfill that promise on the occasion of my daughter's marriage with all the rules and regulations. After assuring his wife of worship, the next day the sage left for the city.

After some time when Kalavati became marriageable, the hermit called a messenger and ordered him to find a suitable groom for his daughter Kalavati. After getting the order of the monk, the messenger went towards Kanchan Nagar and brought a suitable groom from there. Seeing that boy, the monk decided to get his daughter married to him. He immediately invited his loved ones and got his daughter married to that eligible boy.

Even during the marriage the sadhu did not worship Lord Satyanarayan. Seeing this attitude of the sadhu, Shri Satyanarayan Bhagwan got angry and cursed the sadhu that all happiness and prosperity would go away from his life.

Here, the sage busy with his works reached Chandraketu Raja's city to do business with his son-in-law. That's why one day suddenly a thief Chandraketu stole the king's money and reached the same monk's shop while running. Seeing the soldiers coming after him, the thief hid the stolen money in the monk's shop.

When the king's soldiers reached there, they saw the king's money with the hermit and his son-in-law. They immediately captured both of them and took them to the king. The soldiers said to the king, “Your Majesty, we have caught both the thieves with the goods. You just order what punishment should be given to these two.

The king ordered the soldiers to put both of them in prison at once without delay. Also, all their money should be confiscated. On the other hand, the sage's wife was also sad. Whatever belongings were in his house, the thieves had taken them.

One day Kalavati, the daughter of a sadhu, reached a Brahmin's house in search of food suffering from hunger and thirst. There he saw Shri Satyanarayan fasting. Then he also heard the story of Lord Satyanarayan from that Brahmin. After this she went to her home after taking the prasad. As soon as she reached home, Kalavati's mother asked her, "Daughter where were you till now and what turmoil is happening in your mind."

On this Kalavati said to her mother, “O mother! I am just coming from a Brahmin's house. There I heard the story of Shri Satyanarayan Bhagwan. After listening to her daughter's words, Lilavati also started preparing for the worship of Lord Satyanarayan. Then he called his family members and worshiped Lord Satyanarayan with full rituals. At the same time Lilavati apologized to God for her sins and also prayed to release her husband and son-in-law.

Shri Satyanarayan Bhagwan was pleased with this act of Lilavati. He appeared to King Chandraketu in a dream and said, “O king! The one whom you have kept as a prisoner, release him immediately and also return his wealth. If you don't do this, I will deprive you of wealth and happiness of children.

The next morning the king told about his dream in the court and asked the soldiers to bring the two prisoners to the assembly. After this, the soldier reached the court with the monk and his son-in-law. Here both of them bowed down to the king. After this the king said to them, “We had a misunderstanding. Now she is gone, so we are leaving you with full honor and wealth.

By saying this, Sut ji completed the third chapter of Shri Satyanarayan Katha.
