करवा चौथ व्रत कथा

सालों पहले एक शहर में साहूकार रहता था, जिसके सात बेटे और एक बेटी थी। बेटी का नाम करवा था। साहुकार ने अपने बच्चों का पालन-पोषण काफी शाही तरीके से किया था। सभी भाई अपनी इकलौती बहन को बहुत मानते और उस पर अपनी जान छिड़कते थे। उन्होंने उसकी शादी एक अमीर साहूकार के साथ एकदम शाही तरीके से की।

एक दिन करवा ससुराल से अपने मायके आई। सभी भाइयों ने उसका जोरदार स्वागत किया। उन्होंने पहले अपनी बहन को खाना खिलाया और फिर खुद खाया। इसके बाद सभी एक साथ बैठकर बचपन की यादें साझा करने लगें। इसी तरह कुछ दिन बीतते चले गए। एक दिन शाम को जब करवा के सातों भाई अपने काम से घर लौटे, तो उन्होंने देखा की उनकी बहन काफी उदास होकर बाहर बैठी थी।

अपनी बहन करवा को उदास देखकर सभी भाई चिंतित हो गए। वो तुरंत उसके पास गए और उदासी का कारण पूछने लगे। इस पर करवा ने बताया कि उसने अपने पति के लिए करवा चौथ का उपवास रखा है और चांद के इंतजार में सुबह से ही भूखी-प्यासी है। जैसे ही चांद निकलेगा वह उसे देखकर अपना उपवास तोड़ेगी।

यह सुनकर भाइयों का भी मन उदास हो गया। वो सभी करवा के इस कष्ट को नहीं देख पाए। खासकर उसका सबसे छोटा भाई, जिसे करवा से सबसे अधिक स्नेह था। बहन को भूखा-प्यासा देखकर सभी भाई कुछ ऐसा उपाय सोचने लगे, जिससे वो अपनी बहन का कष्ट दूर कर सकें। तभी उन्हें एक तरकीब सूझी।

क्यों और कैसे मनाई जाती है लट्ठमार होली और फूलों की होली?

सभी भाई तुरंत एक पीपल के बड़े से पेड़ के पास पहुंचे। उनमें से सबसे छोटा भाई एक जलता हुआ दीपक लेकर उस पेड़ पर चढ़ गया और उसे एक छलनी में रखकर वहीं छोड़ दिया। इसके बाद पूरे गांव में हल्ला हो गया कि चांद निकल आया।

करवा भी उस जलते दीपक को चांद समझ बैठी और जल्दी से पूजा पूरी कर अपना उपवास खत्म करने के लिए बैठ गई। जैसे ही उसने खाने का पहला निवाला उठाया उसकी नजर भोजन में पड़े बाल पर पड़ी। उसने तुरंत उस निवाले को अपने प्लेट से निकाल कर दूसरी तरफ रख दिया। इसके बाद उसने दूसरा निवाला अपने मुंह में डाला, तभी उसके दांतों में एक कंकड़ आ फंसा। उसने झटपट उस निवाले को भी प्लेट से हटा दिया। इसके बाद उसने तीसरा निवाला अपने मुंह में रखा कि तभी उसे एक बुरी खबर मिली। करवा को पता चला कि उसके पति की मृत्यु हो गई।

क्यों मनाई जाती है होलिका दहन क्या है इसके पीछे की कथा

यह सुनते ही करवा पूरी तरह से टूट गई और जोर-जोर से रोने लगी। कुछ समय बीतने के बाद उसे अपने पति के मृत्यु की सच्चाई का पता चला। उसे जानकारी मिली कि उसके भाइयों के कारण उसने दीपक को चांद समझ लिया था और अपना उपवास खत्म किया था। इस वजह से देवता नाराज हो गए और उसके पति को मृत्यु दंड की सजा सुनाई।

सच्चाई का पता चलने के बाद करवा ने अपने पति का अंतिम संस्कार नहीं करने का प्रण लिया। देखते-देखते एक साल बीत गए। करवा अपने पति के मृत शरीर के पास ही बैठी रही। वह रोजाना अपने पति के शव को साफ करती और वहां उगने वाली घासों को भी हटाती रहती थी। एक साल के बाद फिर से करवा चौथ का पर्व आया। हमेशा की तरह सभी महिलाएं इस व्रत को करने के लिए एक साथ जुटीं। इसमें उसकी सातों भाभी भी थीं।

खाटू श्याम मेला फाल्गुन माह में क्यों लगता है ?

शाम के समय पूजा समाप्त करने के बाद जब करवा की सभी भाभी उसके पास पहुंची, तो उन्होंने करवा को आशीर्वाद मांगने को कहा। इस पर करवा ने सभी से एक-एक करके अपने पति को जीवित करने का वरदान मांगा। करवा की यह मांग उसकी भाभी पूरी नहीं कर सकती थीं। उन्होंने करवा को समझाया भी, लेकिन वह नहीं मानी।

फिर उसकी एक भाभी ने बताया कि उसके छोटे भाई के वजह से ही ऐसा हुआ है, तो उसकी छोटी भाभी ही इस स्थिति को ठीक कर सकती है। यह सुनकर करवा अपनी छोटी भाभी के पास गई और उनके पैर पकड़कर अपने पति को जीवित करने का आशीर्वाद मांगने लगी।

वीर बर्बरीक कैसे बने हारे के सहारे बाबा श्याम

पहले तो उसकी छोटी भाभी ने बहुत टाला, लेकिन अंत में उसकी छोटी भाभी ने अपनी तर्जनी उंगली को काटकर उसमें से अमृत की एक बूंद करवा के मृत पति के ऊपर डाल दी। जैसे ही अमृत की बूंद उसके ऊपर गिरी वह जिंदा हो गया और जय श्री गणेश, जय श्री गणेश के नारे लगाने पड़े। इस घटना के बाद से ऐसी मान्यता है कि करवा चौथ का व्रत करने से गौरी-शंकर खुश होते हैं और महिलाओं के सुहाग की रक्षा का वरदान देते हैं।

कहानी से सीख 
इस कहानी से यह सीख मिलती है कि इंसान को हमेशा सच्ची भक्ति से पूजा-पाठ करनी चाहिए। अगर इसमें किसी प्रकार की कमी रहती है, तो उसके बुरे परिणाम भुगतने पड़ सकते हैं।

 

Karva Chauth Vrat Katha

Years ago there lived a moneylender in a city, who had seven sons and one daughter. Had to get the daughter's name done. The moneylender brought up his children in a very royal way. All the brothers adored their only sister a lot and sprinkled their lives on her. He got her married to a rich moneylender in a very royal way.

One day Karva came to her maternal home from her in-laws' house. All the brothers warmly welcomed him. He first fed his sister and then ate himself. After this everyone sat together and started sharing their childhood memories. A few days passed like this. One day in the evening when the seven brothers of Karva returned home from their work, they saw their sister sitting outside very sad.

Seeing their sister Karwa sad, all the brothers got worried. He immediately went to her and started asking the reason for her sadness. On this, Karva told that she has kept Karva Chauth fast for her husband and is hungry and thirsty since morning waiting for the moon. As soon as the moon rises, she will break her fast after seeing it.

Hearing this, the brothers also became sad. All of them could not see this suffering of Karwa. Especially his youngest brother, who had the most affection for Karva. Seeing the sister hungry and thirsty, all the brothers started thinking of some such solution, by which they could remove the suffering of their sister. That's when he thought of an idea.

All the brothers immediately reached near a big Peepal tree. The youngest of them climbed the tree with a lit lamp and left it there after placing it in a sieve. After this there was an uproar in the whole village that the moon had come out.

Karva also mistook that burning lamp for the moon and quickly completed the worship and sat down to end her fast. As soon as he took the first morsel of food, his eyes fell on the hair lying in the food.

He immediately took that morsel out of his plate and put it on the other side. After this he put the second morsel in his mouth, only then a pebble got stuck in his teeth. He immediately removed that morsel from the plate. After this he put the third morsel in his mouth that's when he got a bad news. Karva learned that her husband had died.

On hearing this, Karva completely broke down and started crying loudly. After some time passed she came to know the truth of her husband's death. 

He came to know that because of his brothers he had mistaken Deepak for the moon and ended his fast. Because of this the gods got angry and sentenced her husband to death.

After knowing the truth, Karva took a vow not to perform the last rites of her husband. A year passed by in no time. Karva kept sitting near the dead body of her husband. She used to clean the dead body of her husband daily and also used to remove the grass growing there.

After one year again the festival of Karva Chauth came. As usual all the women gathered together to observe this fast. His seven sisters-in-law were also there.

When all the sister-in-laws of Karva reached him after finishing the puja in the evening, they asked Karva to seek his blessings. On this, Karva sought a boon from everyone one by one to bring her husband back to life. His sister-in-law could not fulfill this demand of Karwa. He also explained to Karva, but she did not agree.

Then one of her sister-in-law told that this happened because of her younger brother only, so only her younger sister-in-law can fix this situation. Hearing this, Karwa went to her younger sister-in-law and, holding her feet, sought blessings to bring her husband back to life.

At first her younger sister-in-law avoided a lot, but in the end, her younger sister-in-law cut off her index finger and made a drop of nectar from it, and put it on the dead husband. As soon as a drop of nectar fell on him, he became alive and started chanting Jai Shri Ganesh, Jai Shri Ganesh. Since this incident, it is a belief that by observing the fast of Karva Chauth, Gauri-Shankar becomes happy and gives the boon of protecting the honeymoon of women.

Learning from the story
This story teaches us that one should always worship with true devotion. If there is any kind of deficiency in it, then its bad consequences may have to be faced.
